Fiscal Responsibility and Recovery:
The city’s budgeting system is broken. The systems used by the departments are not compatible and information cannot be readily shared. The City’s financial accounting system has caused confusion, mistakes, and unnecessarily wasted our tax dollars. We need to streamline these systems.
City Infrastructure Repair and Overhaul:
Our city’s infrastructure needs a complete overhaul. We need to work on our water and sewer. We must prioritize, fund, update and replace those systems so we don’t continue to worsen our quality of life and our open space.
Police, Fire Rescue and Emergency First Responders:
There is no excuse for the City not to provide effective fundamental emergency services. Radio and computer communication between emergency service agencies remains a disgrace. Our City’s heroes need better equipment.
Fundamental Checks and Balances:
When the mayor was just another vote on the city council, the political parties and special interest groups had an easier time ‘muscling’ votes. A strong mayor and city council form of government is exemplary of a traditionally valued form of government that utilizes ‘checks and balances’ to ensure fair and effective governance.
